The CAYETANA collection is about the modernization of traditional and how something typical of a place can be depicted rejuvenated for the contemporary young woman. Spanish culture and folk has always seemed with an incomparable visual richness and aesthetics and but now, in Barcelona (my city) there's a feeling torn between the beauty of the Spanish culture and the modernity and freedom that the city is seeking.
This Spring-Summer collection is a tribute to the culture and tradition; what sometimes is cataloged as old and boring can be understood from a modern point of view with a new interest today.
Given this situation, my intention with this collection was to find the midpoint between the antique and the present, arrange a young collection but without denying the history and tradition. Often collections designed for a young audience reject any link with the past and try to create a new story. The next step was to find my customer, a modern-day girl in a dynamic and hectic city like Barcelona where life unfolds on the outside and the style is relaxed and fresh. Set these two issues, I could start knitting a place where tradition met youth resulting a project where garments could be juveniles but detailed, with elaborated elements but easy to wear and up-to-date.
Process
The process included several phases of sketching and collage to find the middel point between Spanish Folk and Barcelona lifestyle.
